Kanda University of International Studies (KUIS), founded in 1987 and is a private university dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in international studies, particularly in the areas of foreign languages, intercultural communication, Japanese culture, linguistics, and international studies. In 2003 it was awarded the "Good Practice Award" for innovation in education by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology. There are four departments on campus: English, Asian Languages (Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai), Spanish and Portuguese, and International Communication. The university also has a Graduate School Program and a Japanese Language and Culture Program for foreign students. About 3700 students are enrolled in the various courses.
KUIS is located along Tokyo Bay between Tokyo and Narita International Airport in a metropolitan area of Chiba prefecture called Makuhari. The university is set in an educational zone with other universities and educational facilities. Makuhari Messe Convention and Exhibition Center, the World Business Garden, international hotels, new apartment complexes, shopping facilities, and several parks are a part of this new community. Makuhari beach and a Japanese garden with a tea-house are also located close-by.  (

EXCHANGE-Because this exchange program is part of Bowling Green State University study abroad options, financial aid that could be applied to study on BGSU’s main campus can usually be applied equally to study in the program abroad.

BGSU students who qualify for financial aid for a semester at BGSU may also qualify for funding to assist with the cost of the summer program. Students should consult with a Counselor in the Office of Financial Aid as early as possible for specific details about aid eligibility and summer aid forms. If contacting via email please include your name and ID number along with the program name and semester you are planning to study abroad. For appointments, please also include several days and times that work for you.

To determine eligibility for Financial Aid, please contact:
Candice Moser

In addition to financial aid, there are International Travel Grants and general Education Abroad scholarship opportunities that are available for students on the Education Abroad WEBSITE.
