Program Description:

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Hunan Normal University is located in Changsha, China, in the Hunan province. Its campuses are located near Mount Yuelu. It boasts a library housing 3.4 million volumes. It is one of China’s 211 Project universities, meaning that it is considered one of the nation’s 100 key universities receiving funding to encourage excellence in research.Specialists in the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation offer admission services, airport pickup, living ans students visa help. 

LOCATION
Changsha is the capital of the Hunan Province. The city boasts rich historical heritages dating back 3,000 years. Through street dining and restaurants visitors can sample the local Xiang Cuisine which is one of the Eight Cuisines in China that has a sweet and sour taste. COURSES
Visiting students will register for their classes through The International College of Chinese Language and Culture. The International College of Chinese Language and Culture at HNU is especially set up for foreign students to learn Chinese. 

At the beginning of the semester, the college will give all the students placement test, and arrange students in certain class according to their Chinese proficiency. Students are provided with Chinese language courses that cover areas such as Comprehensive Chinese, Oral Chinese, Chinese Listening, Chinese Writing, Chinese Characters, Chinese Reading and HSK training courses for all different Chinese level students. Except Chinese language courses, we also provides Chinese culture courses, such as Chinese Traditional opera, Paper Cut, Chinese Painting, Calligraphy, Taijiquan and so on.

ACCOMMODATION
The foreign students’ dormitory was constructed with the standards of a three-star hotel in mind; each room is fitted with a private bathroom and a balcony, and has a TV set, fridge, telephone, a water heater, internet service, and is fully furnished. There is public laundry in the basement and each floor has its own kitchen.

FINANCIAL AID
Because this exchange program is part of Bowling Green State University study abroad options, financial aid that could be applied to study on BGSU’s main campus can usually be applied equally to study in the program abroad. If contacting via email please include your name and ID number along with the program name and semester you are planning to study abroad.  For appointments, please also include several days and times that work for you.

In addition to financial aid, there are International Travel Grants and general Education Abroad scholarship opportunities that are available for students on the Education Abroad WEBSITE.

PROGRAM COSTS
Students participating in BGSU exchange programs will pay their regular tuition and fees as if they were studying at Bowling Green State University.  No tuition or fees associated with studying are paid to HNU.  Students are responsible for their own housing, room and board, and incidental expenses.
