Program Description:
The BGSU summer program in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China provides students of all majors the opportunity to study Chinese language (at all levels) and culture in one of the most prestigious universities in China.

Program Features
• All levels of Chinese (Mandarin) language
• Chinese culture classes will be conducted in English. Subjects include: calligraphy, philosophy, Chinese Political economy, Chinese medicine, and others.
• 6 BGSU semester credit hours
• visits to Chinese companies
• BGSU faculty member on site
• Excursions to world famous historical sites and city landmarks, such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven and Tian’anmen Square. Daily excursions will also include visiting the contemporary Art District, the museums, the markets, the Beijing Olympic facilities, theaters and restaurants and a tea house to try out the authentic Chinese cuisine. 

The BGSU Summer in China Program is located in the capital city of China, Beijing. Beijing is the center of Chinese government, culture, education and international communications. It is also the decision-making and management central of Chinese economy and finance. As one of the most developed cities in China, Beijing also carries rich historical elements which make it the place to learn about China, Chinese people and Chinese culture. With high speed rail, it is convenient to travel to all major cities in China with ease.
Students will stay in a hotel on/near campus with breakfast on-site.
Other meals can be purchased in the student cafeteria on campus with a meal card. The student cafeteria provides a variety of food from which to choose. 
American food chains such as Starbucks, DQ, KFC, McDonald’s, and Pizza Hut can be found easily in the city as well.

Chinese language courses are taught in Chinese, and culture courses are taught in English. A minimum of one semester of Chinese or equivalent is highly recommended.


As this is a BGSU program, students that qualify for financial aid for a typical term at BGSU may also qualify for funding to assist with the cost of the summer program. Students should consult with a Financial Aid Counselor in the Office of Financial Aid for specific details about aid eligibility and summer aid forms. In addition, students with a valid FAFSA form on file at BGSU may also apply for an International Travel Grant through the Education Abroad office.
